I am planning to buy a certified pre owned AUDI a6, avaiable in two drive type, all wheel drive or front wheel drive, can anyone give me some advice? thanks.|||Hi, I would buy the AWD Quattro. The combination of Engine, Suspension and AWD Quattro will give you one of the best performance car. You can buy an other make good camparable performance FWD car with less money.|||a|||AWD will handel and drive in bad weather much better|||AWD: more stability in inclimate weather, eats up an extra 1-2mpg
FWD: better mpg, not as good in snow,|||all wheel drive is by far the best, better traction, quicker off the line or at stop lights, best possible in snow or inclement weather... all wheel drive is def. better than front wheel, dont even consider fwd if you have the possibility of getting AWD.|||AWD is good in most environments and basically handles better than FWD|||Depends if you need to drive in snow, dirt, etc. AWD will give you worse MPGs and less speed. But also more grip. Unless your planning on driving a rally, save your money, buy a FWD.|||The simple answer is in fact a question- If you are going to buy an Audi, why would you NOT buy the Quattro? This is like buying a Mercedes S65 AMG and ordering cloth seats. Also caution is needed- is this Audi less than 2 years old and does it have less than 30k miles? Only then if these two requirements are met would I suggest a CPO Audi of any type as Audis require expensive maintenance work and generally begin to fail after 60k miles or 4 years. I would also consider and compare other makes before you settle on an Audi.|||Audi is renowned for their quattro awd system, I would recommend that especially if you live in an area that gets snow. Of course with extra parts in awd system you can possibly expect extra things to fix and maintain. If you're gonna get the FWD to save money, then you might as well just get a VW Passat FWD, they're practically the same car(the 4motion is also the same as quattro ;)
I personally would chose the awd even if I lived in Florida.|||AWD is better.
Advantages- its safer, better in rain, nowm ice, gravel, dirt, and sand. It keeps its value better. Faster and has more traction for better handling.
Disadvantages-heavier AWD makes the gas mileage worse by 1-2 mpg. Higher insurance, more expenive to buy.
FWD
Advantages-Its cheaper to buy and fix. It gets slightly better gas mileage.
Disadvantages-bad in snow and rain and other weather conditions.|||All wheel drive is better. Other than rear wheel, it is the best, I find.|||AWD is definitly the better drive system all the way around it has advantages over FWD in just about every condition the Quattro's hold value better and are what most people looking for an Audi want. it balances some of the advantages of rwd with some of the advantages of fwd and is superior to front weal drive in just about every way (rwd still has some advantages over AWD in certain situations). the majority of Audi's drive train development goes into Quattro if you are buying an Audi buy a quattro. I highly recommend Audi's if you are in the market for a luxury sports sedan they are slightly more luxurious than BMW and slightly more sporty than Mercedes giving you a good balance of the two. while BMW rear wheel drive cars are still considered the best for performance driving i would say Audi's Quattro is the best for daily driving especially if you live where there is snow (Audi's quattro is one of the best AWD systems).
