What is the major difference between a 2010 VW Passat and a 2010 Audi A4?

Hello folks. I wanted to see if anyone could tell me the "significant" differences between a 2010 VW Passat and a 2010 Audi A4 (non quattro). I am in the market for a new car and I am considering the the A4 but several people have mentioned that it is just a very luxurious sporty Passat and even has the same engine. Is this true? Can someone elaborate if possible?|||I'd go for an audi if the price difference isn't that great. The major difference is in handling and smoother ride. Specially if you intend to go on long trips, the audi is more comfortable after a long trip and less tiring. I cannot tell if its the smoother suspension, seats, or what. Thats my opinion.|||The Passat and the Audi use to be the same vehicle back in 2009. For 2009 the Audi was completely redesigned and share very minor things with the VW. The engine on the Passat is the "old" 2.0 which has 200hp/207 lb of torque, the A4 engine is the new 2.0 which is direct injected, and has 211hp/258 lb. torque and is also more fuel efficient. Both cars are comparable, and you can probable get a Passat better loaded for less money than you would an Audi. Both great cars though, both handle great. The Audi is of course more luxurious and the interior is much more higher class, if not a little complicated with some of the buttons and MMI interface. The Passats interior is great but not as high class as the Audi one (since its the same company, Audi being VW group luxury line). Hope that helped, both are great cars so good luck.|||Hi,

It's true that those cars are from the same car group so it's natural that they share some parts like engines and platforms but in this case i would prefer the audi because it's a more recent model(2009) and apart from the engines it is a whole new car as the passat is on the duty since 2005(I think...) and the new passat will be coming next year.

Hope I helped. :)|||No, they are different cars. The only similarity between them is the the 2.0T engine.
