Just bought a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T with 104xxx miles. I plan to do all the required regular maintance. I've heard these cars run long if well maintained?
I'm just asking becuase I plan to mod the car, but only will if I'm sure the engine can take it.|||A modded car will have to be maintained more meticulously so be aware. I have seen very well maintained stock 1.8t's make it well into the high 100k miles. I have seen very poorly maintained 1.8t's die before they make it out of warranty. In your case, be sure to only use synthetic engine oil and if the timing belt hasn't been done within the last 5 years or so, do it now. Be aware of sludge issues with this engine too. Check the underside fo the oil cap for sludge residue. If there is any, you may want to look into a flush and stuff. Audi dealers have a procedure that involves replacing several lines and using factory cleaning equipment to resolve most of these issues. Its not going to be cheap. I would stay away from any over the counter flush solutions though. They typically do more damage then helping. If you take care of your car, then it should be able to take you close to the 200k mile mark with only minor problems.|||Over 100k miles.
